Bio

Laura Reyes is part of an emerging generation of conductors. From 2012 to 2014, she was a beneficiary of the prestigious Fulbright-Garcia Robles scholarship to receive her Master of Music with an emphasis on flute performance.

After five years working in Mexico mostly conducting youth orchestras, choirs, and the Mexican Federal Police Wind Orchestra, she pursued a Doctorate in Musical Arts with an emphasis on Conducting from the College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati, from which she recently graduated. Currently, she is the Assistant Conductor of the Mason Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestral Assistant of the Seven Hills Community Orchestra.

She is presently a recipient of the Scenic Creators Grant by the National Endowment for Culture and Arts (FONCA), Mexico, for the 2022-2023 cycle in the orchestral and ensemble conductor’s category. Some of her upcoming engagements include conducting a concert with music from the Ghibli studio in Mexico with the Chamber Orchestra of Bellas Artes and Cinema Concert Club.

Reyes has collaborated with other professional orchestras in Mexico conducting such as the Puebla Philharmonic, the Carlos Chavez Orchestra, the Aguascalientes Symphony Orchestra, the Queretaro Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mexican Federal Police Wind Orchestra, and the Liminar Contemporary Music Ensemble (Mexico).
